PERC Water

project proposal

the client

PERC Water is an innovative water infrastructure company that develops, designs, builds, and operates water infrastructure. Being a company that provides innovative forward-thinking infrastructure solutions, the continual upward battle is convincing officials and communities that upfront costs to revamp and modernize wastewater facilities will save money, space and the environment in the long term.

PERC Water submits several project proposals in a year. When Strasburg, Virginia was accepting project proposals for a new wastewater facility, PERC Water tried a new approach that would capture/command the attention of the decision makers, showing them how these obstacles could be overcome.

the project

The design challenge was turning an ordinary, transcribed proposal into a PERC Water/Strasburg story. To do this I re-formatted the proposal from a bullet point - text heavy - word document into an Indesign book layout, where I used proposal pieces to structure a narrative that would flow naturally like a story.

I made the proposal image heavy with PERC projects, images of Strasburg, naturescapes, and infographics to visually communicate the story. The layout design was inline with PERC's brand guidelines - minimal, modern, clean. These brand parameters gave way to a beautiful layout that allowed the document to breath and come to life.

The story direction transformed the text-heavy document into a visually interesting experience, that captured the viewer's interest for a longer period of time, and revealed the functional capabilities and value a PERC Water facility would bring to Strasburg, VA.
